The software will continue to work after Windows 10 is no longer supported. There is an end of support date of October 14, 2025 for Microsoft’s Windows 10. No more security updates, patches, etc.
Autodesk won’t purposely block the use of all Fusion 360 products especially not the paid version however the free version of Fusion 360 is online only. It may be unsupported and lose function shortly after October 14, 2025. There has been no clear message from Autodesk on when the free software will no longer work on Windows 10.
Autodesk has a cross-licensing agreement with Microsoft, various integrations are built in Microsoft 365, and Azure, This is the main reason behind the October 14th Windows 10 loss of support. Microsoft is a for profit corporation, with over 2 billion machines being reported to run Windows 10. From fiscal year 2024 revenue was $245.12 Billion which was a 15.67% increase from fiscal year 2023 at $211.92 billion. To maintain the shareholder increase demanded Microsoft is forcing the update from Windows 10 to Windows 11. With Microsoft standing to make a lot of money. Windows 11 home for example as of this writing is $139 https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/d/windows-11-home/dg7gmgf0krt0 directly from Microsoft’s website. Although it says Windows 10-11 upgrade is free there a catch both on the requirements for the software/hardware and changes that were made from Windows 10 to Windows 11 you will have to deal with after downloading. Unfortunately any software company that has a licensing agreements with Microsoft will have to follow suit and you will have to adapt. I personally am learning FreeCad as much as I can.
